Pet cryopreservation involves using extremely low temperatures to halt all biological processes in your pet's body. We currently offer two cryopreservation procedures for pets: a) Standard Preservation – a process in which ice crystals form inside the body while the body is slowly cooled to -196°C ( -320.8°F ). b) Advanced Preservation – this method uses specialized fixatives and cryoprotectant solutions (similar to medical-grade antifreeze) to prevent freezing when the pet reaches sub-zero temperatures during the cooldown to cryogenic temperatures (-196°C/ -320.8°F ). The goal of pet cryopreservation is to preserve pets with the hope that future advancements in technology may enable their revival and the treatment of their original cause of death.
Cryopreservation provides a chance to extend your time with your beloved pet beyond their natural lifespan. It preserves the emotional bond you share and offers the hope that future medical advancements may enable us to heal and revive your pet. This process not only reflects your commitment to their well-being but also supports the advancement of cryonics research, potentially benefiting both pets and humans.
The cost of cryopreservation depends on your pet’s size and the preservation method you choose, either Standard or Advanced Preservation.
Tomorrow.bio members enjoy free pet cryopreservation contract fees for all pets, along with exclusive benefits such as access to our 24/7 emergency support team. Non-members are also welcome to use our cryopreservation services. For non-members, a one-time membership fee of €100 ($100 for US residents). To receive a personalized quote based on your pet’s size, please use our online custom quote calculator.
Tomorrow.bio ensures that all cryopreserved pets are securely stored in our facility for the long term. If reanimation becomes possible and you’re not there to reunite with your pet, rest assured that compassionate individuals—including those dedicated to the mission of cryopreservation—will be there to care for them. By choosing cryopreservation, you’re giving your pet the opportunity for a future life, with the certainty that they will be looked after, no matter what.
Both cryopreservation methods involve gradually cooling your pet to -196°C (-320.8°F) but differ significantly in preservation quality:
Standard Preservation is a straightforward and more economical option that directly cools the pet's body. While effective, this method can result in the formation of ice crystals within tissues, potentially affecting preservation quality.
Advanced Preservation offers a superior approach known as Immersion Vitrifixation. This method begins with treating the pet's body using fixatives that create protein cross-links, stabilizing the tissue structure. The pet is then submerged in cryoprotectant solutions, gradually increasing in concentration over several months, allowing deep penetration into tissues. This meticulous process prevents ice crystal formation, thereby maintaining cellular structure and tissue integrity at a significantly higher level. Once the optimal cryoprotectant concentration is reached, the pet is slowly cooled to -196°C, making this method ideal for those seeking the highest standard of preservation.
Membership is not required to cryopreserve your pet. However, becoming a Tomorrow.bio member offers significant benefits, such as free contracts for your pets, access to the pre-payment plan, and discount in the pet cryopreservation price.
Becoming a Tomorrow.bio member provides valuable benefits for both general and pet-specific cryopreservation.
General membership includes access to advanced cryopreservation services for humans and pets, priority support, exclusive updates, events, and community engagement opportunities.
For pet cryopreservation, members enjoy additional perks:
- Complimentary pet cryopreservation contract (no fees).
- Flexible payment plans allowing cost distribution over up to 24 months.
- A 5% discount on pet cryopreservation contracts.
- Reduced membership fees for additional pets.
Members also have the unique opportunity to honor their pet’s legacy on the Pet Memorial Mural at the European Biostasis Foundation.
The Pet Memorial Mural at the European Biostasis Foundation honors cryopreserved pets, featuring a photo, name, location, and date of preservation. This unique tribute is available exclusively for Tomorrow.bio pet members, celebrating both your pet’s legacy and your commitment as a pioneer in cryopreservation.
If your pet exceeds our standard cryopreservation size limits, please contact us at pet@tomorrow.bio. We'll evaluate whether cryopreservation is possible and provide a personalized cost estimate.
We offer multiple payment options, including a one-time payment, and a pre-payment plan for members with healthy pets. These options make it easier to manage the costs of cryopreservation.
Yes, Non-members and Tomorrow.bio members can signup a healthy pet, securing their place for future cryopreservation. This proactive planning allows you to have peace of mind, knowing your pet’s arrangements are already in place. Tomorrow.bio members get discount in the cryopreservation cost of their pet and access to pre-payment plan, exclusive for members.
If your pet cannot be transported and delivered to our facility in Switzerland within 12 hours of passing, while kept at 4°C (39.2°F), Advanced Preservation won’t be possible—only the Standard Preservation option will be available. For Standard Preservation, a fully funded contract is required. Once the cryopreservation cost is covered, Tomorrow.bio will handle all necessary logistics, including providing an insulated transportation box, dry ice for the initial cooldown, and comprehensive support for safe transport.
For Advanced Preservation, your pet must be located in a region where transportation to our facility in Switzerland within 12 hours of passing is possible, while maintained at a stable 4°C (39.2°F). A fully funded contract is also required. Once these conditions are met, Tomorrow.bio will handle all logistics, including providing an insulated transportation box and coordinating temperature-controlled transport for a safe and timely arrival.
Once your payment is fully confirmed, Tomorrow.bio immediately begins arrangements for cryopreservation. For pets coming from outside the European Union, such as the UK or USA, we must first obtain a biological material import permit from Swiss authorities, which typically takes a few days. After obtaining this permit, we arrange transport to our facility in Switzerland. The exact duration of cryopreservation depends on your chosen method: Standard Preservation: Approximately 50 hours after your pet arrives at our facility. Advanced Preservation: Up to 12 months depending on your pet’s size, since cryoprotectant solutions require gradual diffusion into the tissues. Our team will keep you updated throughout the entire process to ensure clarity and peace of mind.
