Ask most people who signs up for cryonics and they will picture tech billionaires and Silicon Valley founders. It is a tidy image, and it is wrong. It also does real harm, because it gives people a reason to never look at the actual numbers, and the actual numbers are far more ordinary than the stereotype suggests. The "only for the rich" belief is less a fact about cost than a comfortable excuse for not engaging with an uncomfortable topic.

What it actually costs
