Tomorrow Bio collaborates with the European Biostasis Foundation (EBF) to advance the cryonics industry.
Tomorrow Bio is Europe’s first biotech company specializing in human cryopreservation. To provide the best possible complete cryonics service, we work with non-profit partner organizations. One of these organizations is the European Biostasis Foundation (EBF), a Basel-based research foundation dedicated to basic, translational, and applied research in the areas of biostasis, cryobiology, and biopreservation. This article will provide more details about our relationship.
Tomorrow Bio’s vision is that someday, the world will be at a place where people can choose how long they want to live—independent of where they are, who they are, and their financial resources. For this reason, since our opening in 2019, we at Tomorrow are committed to pushing the field of cryonics forward. It’s complex field in that it consists of several aspects:
These tasks are fundamentally different: whereas daily tasks need a dynamic and adaptable organization, the long-term tasks require a maximally stable and secure basis. How does one build an organization that can contain such opposing qualities? Simple. Rather than trying to build a vague organization, it is better to build two - ones that can support each other, perfectly fulfill their responsibilities and provide as much stability as possible for members.
With this in mind, it was decided to divide the tasks. Tomorrow Bio, a start-up based in Berlin, Germany, takes care of everything up to and including the cryoprotection procedure. People who decide to sign up for cryonics are in close contact with our staff who will be there to help them until the day one of our SST teams will finally take care of their cryoprotection. The European Biostasis Foundation (EBF), a non-profit organization based in Switzerland, is in charge of indefinite storage of Tomorrow Bio’s members and biostasis research. Switzerland is one of the most stable and liberal countries around the world, both economically and socially speaking. This makes it the ideal location for a long-term cryonics facility. Furthermore, the geographic location is in an area with low risks for all types of natural disasters.
The deep connection between the two entities goes even further, with Dr. Emil Kendziorra being the founder and CEO of Tomorrow Bio and President and Board Member at EBF. The EBF Board of Trustees includes individuals who have been invested in cryonics for decades. Members were chosen in an effort to build stability while enabling professionality. EBF’s Advisory Board is composed of professionals throughout the field of medicine, science, ethics, technology, economics, and legal sphere. This allows them to gain support from leading experts in fields necessary to advance the biostasis industry.
All of the factors mentioned above make Tomorrow Bio’s partnership with EBF of utmost importance. Not only does Tomorrow Bio connect EBF with people who signed up for cryopreservation, and EBF provides a facility where Tomorrow Bio’s members can be safely stored indefinitely. Our collaboration allows us to take a collective approach to improving biopreservation techniques, from protocols and vitrification agents to long-term storage solutions and revival. We carry a shared mission of preserving life and are focused on advancing research and development within the cryonics industry.
This close collaboration is especially beneficial for our members. Over time, it can help decrease the cost of cryopreservation to the public, ensures a more secure long-term storage solution, and optimizes security for cryopreserved patients. Tomorrow Bio and EBF’s partnership eliminates the risk of anything happening to our cryopreserved members in the unlikely event that we were to close. If Tomorrow Bio were to go bankrupt for any reason, cryopreserved patients would remain safely in EBF's dewars. Since EBF was created with a governance based on transparency and redundancy, it’s designed to persist for centuries to come.
We at Tomorrow Bio are focused on providing high-quality cryopreservation to our members. EBF was developed and structured for long-term stability, as it may take decades, even centuries before revival is possible. Our relationship helps us achieve both in the best possible way. We aim to provide our members with peace of mind and confidence that you’ll be taken care of before and after undergoing cryoprotection. Thanks to our partnership with EBF, once you’re cryopreserved, you’ll remain in good hands indefinitely.
